The Public Prosecution Service (PPS) today published details of the £4.176M payments it made to external counsel during the financial year 2015-16.
The counsel fees expense incurred by the Public Prosecution Service for 2015-16 was £4.777M but actual payments related to current and prior year.

Panel members are selected by means of a procurement exercise conducted September 2015. Successful applicants demonstrated the necessary breadth of skills and professional competence to prosecute on behalf of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
