This policy explains the way in which the PPS deals with cases involving offences under section 13 of the Criminal Justice Act (Northern Ireland) 1966 that encourages or assists the suicide or attempted suicide of another person. This offence is referred to in this policy as “encouraging or assisting suicide”.
This Policy should be read in conjunction with the Code for Prosecutors and other PPS policies which include the PPS Victims and Witnesses Policy.
